Gotham Season 2 Episode 22: Transference

The Court of Owls or Parliament of Owls is a group first introduced in Batman Vol. 2 #2 (October 2011), and by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. It was an ancient conspiracy to control Gotham City. The group had assassins called Talons that served to forward the groups schemes. The Court is made up of the wealthiest families of Gotham who use murder and influence to carry out their collective goals. They had a deal with Haly’s Circus, the circus that the Flying Graysons performed with, to provide potential Talons to them. Dick Grayson was chosen to be a Talon. He became Bruce Wayne’s ward before the Court of Owls could take possession of him as a boy. He recently became a member. Both sides know he is likely to betray them. Like the show Bruce has wondered if they were behind his parents deaths.

The Flash Season 2 Episode 23: The Race of His Life

Jay Garrick the Golden Age Flash was created by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert in Flash Comics #1 (January 1940). Jay was a member of the Justice Society of America. Pre Crisis he was a resident of Earth 2. Post Crisis he was a resident of the Universe created by the merge of Earth 2, Earth One and many others. He served as a superhero since 1940. Jay was tied to speed force and a resident of Keystone City.

Black Flash was created by Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, and Ron Wagner in The Flash vol. 2, #138 (June 1998). He was the manifestation of death to those who are connected to the speed force. They see him before they die. Zoom’s costume and look resembles the Black Flash after the Time Wraiths come to take him with them.

Earth 3 in the DC Comics is a world here the heroes are villains and the villains in many cases are heroes. Earth Two is home to the Pre-Crisis Justice Society of America who started their careers in the Golden Age era (1930’s & 1940’s). The New 52 version of Earth 2 has analogs to the JSA, but they started their careers in the modern era not in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Earth 1 was the Pre-Crisis home to the main continuity. Post New 52, it is home to much younger version of Superman, Batman, the Teen Titans, and soon Wonder Woman. Some people have compared the new Earth 1 line to Marvel’s Ultimate Marvel line.
