Supergirl Season 1 Episode 12: Bizarro
At first I thought this was going to be Bizarro-Girl, Supergirl’s Bizarro counterpart. However based on the episode this is more like Bizarro’s origin. Bizarro was created by Otto Binder and George Papp in Superboy #68 (Oct. 1958) as a mirror image of Superman. Bizarro was created by a scientist who created a duplicate ray. He tried to use it on Superboy. This created the first Bizarro who died at the end of that original story. Twenty years later in DC Comics continuity, Lex Luthor re-creates the duplicate ray and uses it on Superman. We then get Bizarro. The Post Crisis version was a failed attempt at cloning Superman. Bizarro-Girl was Bizarro’s cousin from Bizarro World. She was sent to Earth in a rocket ship to save her home planet Bizarro World AKA Htrae.
The Flash Season 2 Episode 12: Fast Lane
Joseph Monteleone alias Tar Pit was created by Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins. He first appeared in Flash Vol. 2 #174 (July, 2001). He is the younger brother of a Drug Lord. He has the Metahuman ability to inhabit inanimate objects. He gets his conciseness stuck in an asphalt tar pit. From that moment on he is stuck with the Tar Pit. He was a foe of the Wally West version of the Flash.
Arrow Season 4 Episode 12: Unchained
The Calculator AKA Noah Kuttler was created by Bob Rozakis and Mike Grell in Detective Comics #463 (September 1976). His old costume he looked like a human calculator with an LED display on his forehead, he no longer wears a costume. Over the years he developed into the Oracle’s opposite number, working behind the scenes for villains, various criminals, and criminal organizations. He works solely remotely via internet and phones. He offers information, suggestions and other advice all for a fee, of course. He created the Unternet as internet for criminals. He also was retconned as being Wendy and Marvin’s father. They were two teenagers who originally appeared as the Super Friends’ sidekicks in the cartoon show. They were brought in DC Comics main continuity in 2006. They were killed and Calculator attempted to revive them and punish those he held responsible.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 3: Blood Ties
White Canary was introduced in Birds of Prey (vol. 2) #1 (July 2010) by Gail Simone and Ed Benes. In DC Comics she is not Sara Lance, she is however the lone sister of the Twelve Brothers in Silk, a family of martial arts killers. She hunted down her brothers and killed them for dishonoring their father’s name. The brothers had been defeated by the Birds of Prey, a team of female superheroes led by Black Canary. White Canary in the Comics is also of Asian descent. The only things similar between the two versions are they were both trained killers and have some connection with Black Canary.
